Christine Specht is the CEO of Cousins Subs, a Wisconsin-based, sub sandwich shop that started in 1972 in Milwaukee. Delicious crunchy soft bread, deli fresh favorites like the club classic, hot off the grill specials like the cheese steak, and limited edition sub sandwiches have continued to help Cousins grow with locations in Wisconsin, Illinois, and Indiana. You can order your sub online for you or a large group, and many Cousins locations offer curbside pickup and delivery.
Cousins Subs’ success can also be contributed to a smart franchise model, that continues to evolve and keep customers coming back. In Christine’s first appearance on the How’d It Happen Podcast, she talks with our host Mike Malatesta about the Cousins Subs franchise model, why her father decided to start a sub sandwich shop in Milwaukee, and much more.
In this episode Christine and Mike talk about the challenges COVID-19 created for restaurant operators, how Cousins quickly got their team together to get a strategy in place to be an essential business, their approach to reopening in-restaurant dining during the pandemic, why customer loyalty programs work, and much more.
