Dr. Sean O’Mara is the lead partner at Lantu Solutions, a Minneapolis based medical startup that optimizes patient health by leveraging health and disease biomarkers. Prior to Lantu, Dr. O’Mara founded Guardian 24/7, an innovative medical service company providing elite concierge medical care to ultra-high net worth individuals and royalty. The company designed and developed clandestine, satellite controlled Intensive Care Units, unmarked private ambulances, ultra-luxury motor coaches and specialized, underground mini hospitals with the world’s most advanced surgical suites.
In addition, Dr. O’Mara has been an undercover narcotics officer focused on organized crime, a criminal prosecutor, and physician in the US Army where he provided medical support to President Clinton, Vice President Cheney, 2 Secretaries of State, senior government officials and high-level foreign dignitaries. He graduated from the Penn State University with a degree in Education, Villanova University Law School and Temple University School of Medicine.
Dr. O’Mara has committed himself to helping people improve their health and creating true and effective role models for health. He’s convinced that the solution to a healthier and longer life lies in understanding and positively impacting your bodies Key Performance Indicators, or KPI’s, by making modest adjustments to your diet and exercise habits. He believes that much of the chronic disease we experience can be avoided, or reversed, using data analytics to sort through lifestyle and clinical information including biomarkers, the human genome and microbiome information evaluated through a machine learning, artificial intelligence model.
Mike and Sean cover a ton of great stuff in this episode, including how, as a young kid he developed an unusual ability to figure things out on his own as a mechanism to manage his relationship with a Dad suffering with PTSD, why his experience at age 15 with a restaurant manager who thought he was lazy changed how he thought about work, how his community college professor opened his mind and engaged his desire to purse his education further, his need to take a job as a night security guard to pay his way through medical school, and, finally, how we all wear our health on our face – and how he’s become an expert at analyzing faces.
