Michael Brody-Waite Authenticity Expert, Building a Mask-Free Culture - EP 139

Michael Brody-Waite is a Tedx Speaker, Author, and Advisor to leadership teams about the masks we wear to control other people’s perceptions about us, the negative impact of that control on our life, and the principles we can apply to remove the masks, and go change our own lives by being authentic.

Michael believes in order to be mask-free you have to live by 3 principles, practice rigorous authenticity, surrender the outcome, and do uncomfortable work. In his workshops you learn how these 3 principles helped him get promoted, build a business (he left his successful career at Dell to start), write a book called Great Leaders Live like Drug AddictsHow to Lead like your Life Depends on It, give a Ted Talk (that went viral), and start a family. His mission is to teach you how to unlock the incredible competitive advantage of being your true self without fear, shame or regret so that you can thrive in your career, business and relationships.

Michael and Mike cover a ton of great stuff in this episode like why people who aren’t authentic leaders are addicted to 4 different things, saying yes to things we could say no to, hiding weaknesses, avoiding difficult conversations, and hold back our unique perspective. They also talk about the difference between academic entrepreneurs vs street entrepreneurs, why we end up convincing ourselves that outcomes are going to be horrible and then we can’t get past them, the addiction to hiding our true selves is as real as drugs and alcohol, the difference between honesty and authenticity, and much more.

And now here’s Michael Broady-Waite
